I really recommend Nature via Nurture by Matt Ridley. Reading Genome is what persuaded me to study Genetics at University, and reading Nature via Nurture just reminds me why I’m still here. I love how he combines many different fields outside of biology to craft stories as entertaining as anything from a fictional work. I can’t believe you’ve read so much Dawkins, though! Even as a child I always thought that believing in God was like believing in Santa or the Tooth Fairy, but I still particularly dislike the smug, condescending and often aggressive tone with which Dawkins puts forward his views…

Thanks for the referral ashleysheff, I will definitely add Matt Ridley’s “Nature via Nurture” to my reading list.

I actually admire Dawkins’ no-holds-barred style of assertively stating the case for evolution, and rank “The God Delusion” as one of the top ten most influential books I have ever read (others include “The Selfish Gene” and Stephen Hawkings’ “A Brief History of Time”).

I am currently reading ‘Life Ascending: the Ten Great Inventions of Evolution’ by Nick Lane. Have you read it? Very interesting theories on the origin of life and the major milestones of evolution. I highly recommend this book!
